Dean F. Kirkpatrick of 843 North Birch died late Monday afternoon at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was 92.The son of Isaac and Matilda Kirkpatrick, he was born Sept. 14, 1893, near White City, Kan. As a young man, he worked as a cowboy on the LeMaster Ranch near Cedarvale, Kan. During World War I he served overseas in the Army from May 8, 1918 to May 12, 1919. After his discharge he worked for the Harry Bayless-LeMaster drilling company, drilling oil wells in the Rainbow Field northwest of Arkansas City and later in the Burbank Field.He married Etta Mae Barker on March 20, 1921, in Winfield, Kan. She died May 29, 1933. On July 11, 1945, he married Evelyn Hunter in Newkirk. They made their home in Albuquerque, N.M., where he worked as an auto mechanic.In October 1958 he retired and moved to Ponca City. Kirkpatrick was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and World War I Veterans Organization. His hobbies were gardening and making flag poles.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a son, James Kirkpatrick of 4 Overcrest Road, five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Trant of 2121 Joe, Mrs. Hugh (Margeurite) Geiger of Albuquerque, Mrs. Harold (Terri) Stafford of Norman, Mrs. Ratmond (Anne) Willis and Mrs. Barbara Rheinheimer, both of Elkhart, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Kirkpatrick of Ponca City and Wolford Kirkpatrick of Prineville, Ore.; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, five brothers, a son and a great-granddaughter. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Casket bearers will be grandsons.Memorial funds have been established in his name with Hospice of Ponca City, Inc., P.O. Box 2525, Ponca City OK 74602, and Boys Ranch in Perkins, OK. The family will be at the home of Rodney Trant, 939 North Fourth the day of the funeral. (Ed. note: Mr. Kirkpatrick died September 23, 1985, per the Social Security Death Index) |
